Description
CASE CARBURIZATION
The case carburization process creates a hardened steel “case” around the outside of the roller bearing while leaving a soft core. The combination of the hard surface layer around the soft core provides excellent shock-load capabilities. Case carburization increases theoretical bearing life by up to 40%, resulting in increased maintenance intervals and reduced downtime.
SPECIAL ROLLER CROWNING
NTN’s pioneering efforts in developing crowned rollers have resulted in greater load-carrying capability and longer bearing life. Crowned rollers under load distribute stress equally along their full length of contact with the raceways, thereby eliminating stress concentration at the roller ends. This design concept also compensates for minor misalignment between shaft and housing bore and deflection under load, thereby reducing stress concentration.
COMPREHENSIVE PRODUCT COVERAGE
NTN offers tapered roller bearings in ISO (metric), inch and J-metric series with single-row (cone/cup), two-row (back-to-back or face-to-face), double-row (double cup or double cone) and four-row assemblies available. NTN and Bower integrated offerings allow customers to optimize their tapered roller bearing selection by customizing geometries and surfaces, ensuring the product delivered meets customer needs.
LOCAL MANUFACTURING
NTN takes pride in selling locally manufactured tapered roller bearings to various markets. With NTN-Bower facilities in Macomb, Illinois and Hamilton, Alabama, NTN has been producing tapered roller bearings in the United States for more than half a century. Over 10 million tapered roller bearings sold by NTN in the last year were made locally using domestic materials and some foreign components. NTN employing over 800 Americans at our Macomb, Illinois and Hamilton, Alabama facilities and we continue to increase production.
PREMIUM BRANDS, PREMIUM MATERIALS
We offer premium tapered roller bearings under the NTN and Bower® brand names. Most NTN and all Bower® tapered roller bearings feature case-carburized components. Cups, cones, and rollers are made from case-hardened alloy steel of “Bearing Quality” to provide superior fatigue life and reliability. Precise control of heat treatment, dimensions, and surface finish of the components further contribute to reliable bearing performance. So whether you’re looking for an American-made, case-carburized inch series taper, or a metric series through-hardened variety, we have you covered with a proper fit for your application. Premium steels and heat treatments are also available for applications requiring extended life and high reliability.
